Large, Dangerous Rocket Ships

Low Altitude

Rocket Traffic Cone!

Why It's Awesome:

Port-O-Potties, robots, tombstones, sculptures, huge traffic cones, appliances and anything else people can get their hands on, all strapped to explosives and blasted into the air. 'Nuff said.

The Rules:

  • Oddball rockets only. There must be something visually/structurally strange and different about qualified entries.
  • The rocket that reaches the lowest altitude (over 100 feet) will be declared the winner.
  • Rockets must deploy a recovery device and make a safe landing. Smashed or obliterated rockets will be disqualified.
  • Must be powered by one or more commercially-available, certified motors.
  • Unmodified recording altimeter required.
  • Weird Rocket Photos

R2-D2 has never been this cool now that he can fly! See all kinds of strange, totally off-the-wall rockets from LDRS.

    More LDRS Rocket Divisions

  • Drag Race: Up to 16 rockets explode into the air at exactly the same time, using brute force to explode straight up from the ground faster than the rest of the pack.

  • Experimental Division: The main event. See the most powerful and the most volatile rockets around compete to break the 100,000-foot mark.

  • Race to 6,000 Feet: Big-time rockets blast off while trying to reach an altitude of 6,000 feet in the last amount of time.
