DIY Projects for Kids of all Ages

Light Bulb

No. 3 - A Light Bulb (Ages 12+)

This project lets kids recreate one of the most important inventions in human history. Don't let that statement intimidate you, because it's actually relatively simple and doesn't take much time.

You'll use thin iron wire (strands from picture hanging wire usually work) as filaments, and a small clear jar as the bulb's exterior. Once the basic components are in place you can perform this experiment again and again for your friends. Parental supervision is required.

Required Materials: Small jar, cork stopper for a lid, three feet of shielded copper wire, 6-volt battery, thin iron wire
