No. 10 - Giant Rodent Turns out the world's largest rodent is from Uruguay, not New York. In January of 2008 researchers uncovered the remains of the enormous creature and guessed that, back when it was alive, the rodent weighed about 1 ton. A few months later scientist revised their estimates and now say the big guy probably tipped the scales at about 770 lbs - still not the kind of thing you want to find crawling through your cupboards.
