Termites
Alone among the social insects, termite colonies have a king as well as a queen, and they live together for years. Although they start out the same size, the queen is constantly fed by her servitors until she swells to an enormous size, as much as a thousand times larger than her husband. Despite her changed appearance, the king is always by her side, protecting her from danger and fertilizing eggs.
