3 Ways to Create a Fire from Scratch

Starting a fire from scratch is just the kind of challenge that DIYers look forward to. Using matches, lighters and fuel—well, that's just cheating.

There are a number of ways to go about starting a fire when you're without flint or tinder, and some of the methods are more difficult than others. But you don't have to be Les Stroud from Survivorman or one of the Catch It Keep It crew to master the basics. A little patience and practice is all it takes to learn how to start a fire from scratch.
