Green Hummer

Green Hummer

Type: 1994, 4X4 hard-top Hummer

Engine: 6.5-liter diesel with a BANKS turbo charger kit

Fuel and Features: Main fuel for the Hummer was bio-diesel made from waste food oil. The food-derived bio-diesel provided the heat energy to power the gasifier. Once the food oil heated up the gasifier system via the wasted heat energy from the exhaust, the heat energy would reform the hydrocarbons from food to hydrogen, methane and carbon monoxide gases to further fuel the Hummer. For Shaun’s trek, the food used in the gasifier was beignets, crawfish, catfish, French fries, pop tarts and even marshmallows. This food fuel powered him in the Green Hummer through the state of Louisiana.

Mileage: This fuel system increased the mileage of the Green Hummer from 4 to 6 miles per gallon to 12 miles per gallon!

Top speed: 75 mph
