Shaun Murphy
The man who turned the COOLFUELTM idea into reality, Shaun is the driving force behind the television show. Enthusiastic, well-spoken and easy to interview, he knows how to make the subject of fuel efficiency and vehicle innovation fun, exciting and possible. Shaun is known to television audiences in more than 70 countries around the world. Friendly and engaging, he is a popular Australian TV personality and adventurer with a keen sense of humor.
Shaun’s production/adventure history includes stints as host, producer and writer of the series Totally Wild on the Discovery Channel, as well as host, executive producer, writer and director of Racing the Moon on National Geographic Channel International. In addition he has an extensive background in Australian TV, working as a reporter and producer on several programs.
Sparky
Born in Newtown, Australia, on Feb. 28, 2000, Sparky is a typical affectionate, protective and over-achieving Jack Russell terrier. No, he doesn’t have much dialogue, but he’s irrepressible and fun and definitely along for the ride. In truth, he often steals the show. Always on a mission, the 22-pound canine has been to more places in the United States than most Americans. And he’s done it on all fours — except when he had to dog paddle away from the canoe crash, or the time he took a flying leap out of the scooter, anxious to get back to Daryl Hannah.
The Crew
Their challenges are almost as demanding as Shaun’s, given that they live out of a space-age soybean and solar-powered RV fitted with satellite dish, computers and workshop. Although they have traditional production responsibilities, the crew members often play on-camera roles as they work 24/7 to help Shaun and Sparky avoid potholes, pitfalls and wild weather. Communications queen, aka production manager, Teresa Brett worries a little, laughs a lot and works overtime to find the resources that help the COOLFUEL team achieve their goals. Master mechanic Marty Brett likes all things water, including hydropowered vehicles. This wizard mechanic/technician keeps the Coolfuel vehicles moving down the American highways, byways and airways. The kiwi and strategic guru on the team, New Zealander Gus Roxburgh, is the COOLFUEL field producer. He has a penchant for extreme sports and all things outdoors. Gus is an accomplished writer, TV producer and director who makes sure the cameras capture all the thrilling and amazing moments.
