Valley of the Kings
Valley of the Kings Timeline

Floods Ravage Valley (200 B.C.-1800 A.D.)

A far greater threat to the valley's tombs came not from man, but from the forces of nature. Once every couple of hundred years a torrential downpour on the hills above would send water rushing through the valley, bringing down boulders and causing millions of gallons of water damage to the tombs. Some storms could be so severe that the Valley of the Kings was transformed into a lake. For the next 2,000 years, tomb after tomb was concealed by flood debris.
