Everyone knows Les spends a lot of time alone, so we asked him to give a little thought — when he's not preoccupied with staying alive — to sharing some of his Top Tens. He agreed to flesh out several categories, but when it came to his favorite books he came back with: "DON'T NEED TO ESCAPE IN A GOOD BOOK … AM ALREADY ESCAPING WHEN OUT THERE!"

After immersing himself in nature for so many years, it's no surprise that Les had a tough time coming up with these finalists. You may think he "stretched" with a few, but some things just defy refinement.

Les loves his solitude, and not just those choice spots found in the wild. He seems to have a thing about Ontario, but there probably aren't many escapes from civilization that wouldn't qualify in the end.

With all the ground Les has covered, it's little wonder there's a dark side. Hope you weren't one of the people on that canoe trip; and it's hard to imagine what he'd do if he happened on a litterbug.
