Cool Worlds
Aug. 7-9

In the spirit of blockbuster movies like Day After Tomorrow, The Science Channel's Cool Worlds is bigger than life, and survival is the name of the game.

Studies have determined that Antarctica has a tremendous impact on the global environment. Cold water originating under the Antarctic ice shelf is cooling the world's oceans, and extremely unstable ice on the western side of the continent could threaten the earth's climate as it melts under accelerated global warming.

The protagonist is ice (and the antagonist is the climate). Examines its cycles and seasons, our attempts at controlling it, and how animals and people have survived it. Take a look at what happened in the last Ice Age and what could happen in the future.

From ice storms to the sound that snowflakes make, from avalanches to ice ages, Cool Worlds shows us the hidden magic and the sudden misery of the extreme cold.

Take our Will You be Ready? Quiz and test your survival instinct.
